Inna Davidova

Inna Davidova, the pianist-concertmistress and the director of Herman Braun Foundation, was born in Siauliai (Lithuania). Since 1968 she has been living in Riga. Mrs. Davidova graduated from Latvian Jazeps Medins College of Music (prof. Joy Lifshitz), Latvian Academy of Music (1987, prof. Valentina Brovak; postgraduate as a concertmistress, 1994, prof. Inta Villerusa).

The basic artistic features of Ms Davidova are delicacy and stylistic certainty.  She prefers to work with vocalists. Many well-known singers, such as Inessa Galant, Inga Kalna, Antra Bigaca, Elina Garanca, Egils Silins, the Lithuanian singer Jolanta Stanelite, with whom Ms Davidova became a prize-winner at the International Vocal Competition in Tokyo, and the Russian singers Tatyana Monogarova, Irina Dolzhenko, Anatoly Safiulin, can be listed her best co-workers. She also gives concerts with the clarinetist Marcis Kulis.

Ms Davidova has always been seeking for the uncommon and the unknown ways in the field of vocal chamber music. Every her concept has its own dramatic core and is elaborated in the inner logical development. The programs are characterized by the pianist’s imagination and deep knowledge of the subject. Such programs as Wolf’s and Medtner’s songs with Goethe poetry (A.Bigaca, I.Davidova, 1995, Riga), Mendelssohn’s, Schumann’s and Brahms’ vocal duets (I.Kalna, A.Bigaca, I.Davidova, 1997, Riga), Forgotten pages – Taneyev’s and Arensky’s romances (A.Safiulin, I.Davidova, 2000, Riga and Moscow), Musical revelations –  Spohr’s, Meyerbeer’s Creutzer’s, Cornelius’ Tate’s pieces for mezzo, clarinet and piano (A.Bigaca, M.Kulis, I.Davidova, 2002, Riga), Russian Composers’ Romances: Glinka, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky (I.Dolzhenko, I.Davidova, 2004) and Pearls of Vocal Romanticism: Schubert, Wolf, Richard Strauss (Egil Silins, Inna Davidova, 2005),  Chopin & Viardot:Chopin’s and Viardot’s songs, Chopin’s mazurkas, arranged for piano and voice by Pauline Viardot (Ljiljana Jovanovic Biljana Staffansson Inna Davidova 2010); Love Dream: Songs by Franz Liszt (Irina Dolzhenko Inna Davidova 2011) are especially noticeable and outstanding.

The pianist performs in Latvia and abroad (Russia, Denmark, UK, Italy, Japan, Canada, USA, Israel, Slovenia, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania).

In 1998, February 13, the first vocal music concert (A.Safiulin, I.Davidova) of the new concert agency Herman Braun Foundation, established by Ms Davidova, took place in Riga. Since then Ms Davidova has been successful in combining art and management. Due to Herman Braun Foundation’s activities a number of the newborn traditions have come to Latvia’s concert life and enriched it. Among them are festivals the Winterfest and the Summertime, the annual performance of Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium and Handel’s Messiah at Christmas. The cycle of concerts To the City and the World is remarkable as a great cultural event of national importance.

During the season 2002/2003 Ms Davidova was running the Music Council at the Ministry of Culture of Latvia.

In 2005 Jurmala City Council rewarded Herman Braun Foundation with the Prize of the Year for successful realization of the first festival SUMMERTIME – INESSA GALANTE & FRIENDS and valuable contribution to culture of the city.

In 2006 Inna Davidova was rewarded with the Rienzi Prize for valuable contribution to culture management.

Inna Davidova bears the Order of the Three Stars (2008).

In 2010 Ambassador of Poland to Latvia Jerzy Marek Nowakowski presented Inna Davidova Chopin’s Passport and inviting her to become Chopin’s Ambassador in Latvia. There are only 80 Chopin’s Passports in the world awarded to people have substantially contributed to promotion of Chopin’s legacy. Inna Davidova is the only holder of the passport in Latvia.

In 2011 Mr Bogdan Zdrojewski, Polish minister for culture and national heritage, presented the ‘Gloria Artis’ silver medal for Cultural Merit to Ms Davidova for her distinguished contributions to promotion of Chopin’s legacy.
