In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of professor Voldemārs Stūresteps
There are many distinguished musicians among the students of Professor Voldemārs Stūresteps Gidon Kremer, Juris Madrevich (Bangkok Thailand, College of Music Mahidol University), Emanuil Borokh (concertmaster of Dallas Symphony Orchestra, USA), Vladimir Tsypin (New York Philharmonic Orchestra, USA), Zoja Gelvan-Leibin (New York Philharmonic Orchestra, USA), Arkady Fomin (Dallas Symphony Orchestra, USA, New Conservatory of Dallas & Conservatory Music in the Mountains, Symphony of Toys, CLAVIER TRIO)
They are well known all over the world, and now they pay the tribute to the Master.
Voldemar Sturestep was a rare and unique person a great teacher, very kind and considerate of his students, always tuned to their needs and their problems.
He never pushed you but always encouraged you to find your own way. You could always confide in him at the time of trouble or doubt. A man of great integrity he found a way to never sacrifice it in the time of difficult political reality.
And on a personal note: a signed copy of Bach's "Sonatas & Partitas" for violin that he gave me as a parting gift is always on my music stand as a reminder of a great man dedicated to the art of music and even more so - to the art of the human soul.
