Herman Braun foundation

 

Herman Braun Foundation was established in 1998 (its first concert took place on February, 13th) as a private artistic and concert agency run by the pianist Inna Davidova. The name of the organization immortalizes memory of the famous Latvian pianist and concertmaster Hermanis Braun.

The agency performs various sets and objections so as to intensify the musical environment of Latvia, bringing into it brightness and fascination. The agency organizes different concerts both of local and guest musicians; it delivers the musical cycles (To the City and the World, The Riga’s Debut, Musical Discoveries, Legendary Musicians, Riga Piano Season…) and the festivals (Winterfest, Summertime, OPUS-20) that facilitate to broaden the outlook of the audience.

The concerts of Herman Braun Foundation are notable for their variety of genres, strict selection of participants and interesting programs. The agency has boundless possibilities to stand for the art of Latvian musicians all over the world; it represents the interests of Latvian musicians abroad as well as the interests of several foreign musicians in Latvia.

Since its beginning Herman Braun Foundation has created and strengthened relations with such internationally acclaimed music masters as Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Gidon Kremer, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Mischa Maisky, Dmitry Bashkirov, Dmitry Alexeev, Inessa Galant, Egils Silins, Victoria Postnikova, Muza Rubackyte, Christoph Eschenbach, Jacques Loussier, Paavo Järvi, Saulius Sondeckis, Ilan Volkov.

Herman Braun Foundation invites the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Czech Philharmonics, the European Union Youth Orchestra, Moscow Virtuosi, Кremerata Baltica, Tokyo String Quartet, Guarneri String Quartet, Juilliard String Quartet, Terem-quartet, the ancient music ensemble Villancico, the male choir Pravoslavniye Pevchiye, Oleg Lundstrem Jazz orchestra, the BBC Singers, the King Singers, the Swingle Singers, Chanticleer, fado singer Misia, the Real Groupe.

By means of the agency’s activities the Riga audience was delivered the recitals of such Latvian musicians, already well-known in Europe, as singers Inga Kalna and Elina Garanca, violinist Baiba Skride, pianist Vestard Shimkus, flutist Ilze Urbane, clarinetist Marcis Kulis.

The agency’s special efforts are aimed at the relations with Russia. The Russian singers Irina Dolzhenko, Tatiana Monogarova, Anatoly Safiulin should be mentioned among the most regular performing guests.

During the period of preparation for the Riga’s 800th anniversary the agency launched the immense cycle To the City and the World, inviting the Riga born or the Riga taught musicians, whose glinting musical career had been made abroad. The gala-concert at the Latvian National Opera became the top of this cycle and drew attention of all Latvians.

Herman Braun Foundation is in touch with a great number of foreign artistic agencies, always being ready for new contacts.

The activities of Herman Braun Foundation have become an essential part of Latvia’s musical life. A constant increase in an audience can be regarded as an evident proof of the agency’s good fame and standing.
